AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. THIS SERIES. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I feel like I can't explain this series as well as I wish. I don't want to give too much away. But here we go...

Sophie Elizabeth Foster has always felt different.

For one, she's telepathic. She can hear people's thoughts in her head, loud and sharp.

She feels out of place with her family.

Sophie once asked her mom if she was adopted. Sophie watched her mother's thoughts as her mom would laugh and say, "No." Her mother remembered being pregnant with her.

And two, she had a photographic memory. She moved through school so quickly they moved her a few grades up. Waaaaaay too quickly for a twelve-year-old girl.

Everyone thought that she was a showoff.

That she was weird.

That she wasn't normal.

Until she was proved extraordinary.

One day, while she was on a school field trip, a boy shows up. He was a little older than her, with dark hair, and the most beautiful teal-blue eyes she had ever seen.

He told her he had been looking for her. THEY had been looking for her. For years.

For her. Why her?

The boy--Fitz--tells her she's an elf.

She's told that Atlantis was sunk because of a disagreement between humans and elves. That Atlantis was real. IS real. It was sunk into the sea so the humans would think the elves disappeared.

Like any normal person would, she doesn't believe him. Laughs it off.

Don't elves have pointy ears? And aren't they small enough to fit in shoes? I mean, come on. Really.

SHE couldn't possibly be an elf.

She'd heard stories of elves and goblins and ogres and things--hadn't everybody? They were just fairytales.

Weren't they?

Keeper of the Lost Cities, by Shannon Messenger, is a gripping, action-filled, and comedic series about Sophie and her journey. But beware, you might get hooked! I know I have.

So far, there are nine books (the most recent, Unlocked, is technically 8.5), and the next one will come out in November 2021. Check out Shannon Messenger's website for an excerpt on the books!

From the picture going clockwise, the characters are: Fitz Vacker, Sophie Foster, (MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE) Keefe Sencen, Biana Vacker (Fitz's sister), Tam & Linh Song (Twins), Dex Dizznee (who has the most adorable dimples), and Wylie Endal.

If you do read them, also check out her Keeper's playlist and recipes! The Lost Cities are filled with all kinds of goodies!

Now, for the content: pretty clean. A comment every once in a while, and some action & violence. Ultimately, not much to worry about. There is a LOT of snark, however, so prepare to laugh a bit.

Thanks for reading! Comment below other series I should blog about!
