Hey all! Yeah, yeah, I know--haven't posted in awhile. So, we're going to now. I mean, assuming I don't get distracted by my cat, who is currently sitting on me. Who's a cwute kwitty--oh, uh, right. You're still here.

*clears throat*

Ahem, to the blog post!

Winter might be my favorite out of this book series. I never told you how the stories intertwined, and I still can't, but all I can say is that these books are amazing. You just have to read them for yourself, because I'm going to try not to spoil anything.

(By the way, this is all happening on Luna, the moon)

Winter

The visions were getting worse, now that he wasn't around.

He had been captured.

The visions were always hard to deal with, but today? She couldn't shake them.

Because he wasn't here. He was always here. And no one else understood. Because why give up your gift?

Winter sat in the throne room, watching her harsh and cold stepmother, Queen Levana, judge her subjects. It was a joke. It was obvious Levana had no heart at all, and no compacity for fair rulings.

And yet the aristocracy obeyed her every word.

Because the Lunar gift could make you do anything you wanted to do. So no matter what you tried, there was always a way of making you comply.

It was horrifying.

Winter herself hadn't used her gift since a young age, after she'd seen what cruelty people could do with it.

And it was causing her hallucinations.

And right now, Winter was a girl of ice and snow. That's how she imagined herself. Freezing from the inside out.

She focused back on the trial. She had to think, had to distract herself from it, or she would go crazy.

Well, she already was crazy.

But imagining his voice? Concentrating, like he told her to?

"It isn't real, Princess. It's only an illusion."

It wasn't helping this time.

"Stay with me, Princess."

He wasn't here.

A girl of ice and snow. She was a girl of ice and snow.

Freezing from the inside out.

Ice and snow that shattered once she heard someone say his name.

"Sir Jacin Clay."

Because there he was:

In the throne room.

Bound between two men.

A prisoner.

Blond hair sticking to his jaw.

On trial.

No expression.

Jacin.

Her Jacin.

And he didn't look at her.

Not even once.

Sooooooooooooo. Ha, the content.

One thing you need to know about this book is it's super fast-paced and... in the middle of a lot of war. There is some torture involved, lashing, and other things. Like I said, war. There's also blood in some other non-action related scenes.

Winter has a lot of hallucinations that have to do with death and gore. It's not pretty. And they're usually gruesome. I don't really like it, and if you can't handle it, I'd suggest to skipping a few more sentences ahead.

This is probably the most intense of the books (besides Fairest, the story of the villain... which is horrid and gory and not SUPER recommended...)

Language: While there's not much, Jacin swears a few times. It's usually pretty mild and not past "He--" or "Da--"

There is some... kissing, involved. (There is some in the first three books too, yes, I know, I just didn't know if you wanted a warning.) But nothing you should have to be concerned about.

I can't really say much more about this one except that all of their stories intertwine in some really neat ways [with the first three books].

So--Happy reading!
